Roadmap

Coyoteshift runs your people. CoyoteTrack runs your stock and your numbers. Here’s how we got here, everything that works today and when it arrived, and everything we’re building toward, with how far along each piece is.

Our story so far

Built by someone who worked the shifts, in the stores it was made for, before anyone else used it.

  1. 5 to 8 June 2026

The whiteboard and the group chat

Coyoteshift started on the shop floor.

Aidan was working shifts at a Las Vegas liquor store, where the schedule lived in a group text and a photo of a whiteboard. On 5 June he built a schedule builder to get it out of the chat, and three days later it became a staff portal with logins for the two stores.

  2. 9 to 23 June 2026

Built for more than one business

The portal was rebuilt so every piece of data belongs to one business and never leaks into another.

Then a sprint: locations, time off, incident reports and the 86 list, announcements, licences on file, push notifications, the suggestion box, the rules-based Smart Scheduler, shift swaps, team chat and the GPS time clock, all in about two weeks.

  3. June 2026

The inventory app starts in the stockroom

The same week, what became CoyoteTrack started in the same stores: shelf counts from a phone, bottle names read from photos, Zebra shelf labels, and checking counts against the Clover till.

  4. July to September 2026

Used every day where it started

Staff proposing their own shifts, schedule notes, and an iPhone-style look to try.

Over the summer the app ran the real stores day to day, and that use showed what had to change before anyone else could rely on it.

  5. 21 to 25 September 2026

    Ready for other businesses

The iPhone-style app became the default, the builder went drag-and-drop, new businesses got a setup wizard, custom roles arrived, plans and online checkout went live, setup became automatic, and every business got the right to export its data if it ever leaves.

  6. 26 to 28 September 2026

    The big fall update

Payroll export, labour cost, open shifts, timesheets, tips, checklists, Face ID sign-in, Simple mode and more than a dozen other features arrived in early access, and a stress test held about 2,400 people using the app at once.

  7. 28 September 2026

    Portal becomes Coyoteshift

A name you can search for, coyoteshift.com, and the same app underneath.

  8. 30 September 2026

    The first expo

We showed Coyoteshift to local business owners for the first time at the Henderson Chamber's Ready, Set, Expo.

The inventory app got its name, CoyoteTrack, and a public demo, and new businesses now start by picking their type of business.

The schedule builder

Since 5 Jun 2026

Build the week, publish once, everyone's phone has it.

More about this

Where it all started: a way to get the schedule out of the group chat. Build the week on a grid, use preset shift times, copy last week, publish with one button. Since September it's drag-and-drop with a shift dock and undo, and it handles overnight shifts and staff who work at more than one location.

Multiple locations and cross-location shifts

Since 11 Jun 2026

Each store keeps its own hours; people can work at more than one.

More about this

Every location has its own hours, shift times, time zone and settings, and a person can be scheduled at another location without a second account. Built in the first week for the two stores it started in.

  • Multi-location
  • Retail & liquor
  • Restaurants & bars
CoyoteshiftLive

Time off requests

Since 12 Jun 2026

Staff ask, managers approve, the schedule shows it.

More about this

Staff request days off from their phone, a manager approves or declines, and approved time off appears on the schedule so nobody is booked by mistake. Balances and a team calendar followed in September (early access).

  • Every business
CoyoteshiftLive

Incident reports and the audit log

Since 14 Jun 2026

Write it down properly, with photos, and see who changed what.

More about this

Staff file incident reports with photos and video under categories you set. Every important change in the app is recorded in an audit log owners can read.

  • Every business
CoyoteshiftLive

The 86 list

Since 14 Jun 2026

Banned customers with photos and video, shared across your stores.

More about this

An internal list of people a business has decided not to serve, with photos, video and the reason, visible to staff at every location so a new hire knows who to watch for. Covered by our 86 List policy, and it will never use face recognition.

Announcements

Since 15 Jun 2026

One message to the whole team, not lost in a chat.

More about this

Post an update to everyone or one location; it stays pinned where staff will see it. Pairs with "Got it" confirmations (early access) so you know who has read it.

Staff licences on file

Since 15 Jun 2026

Food handler, alcohol and other cards stored with expiry dates.

More about this

Each person can keep their licences and cards on their profile with photos, numbers and expiry dates; IDs of record can only be changed by an owner. Reminders and schedule warnings are the next step (see Cards and licences that remind you).

CoyoteshiftIn beta

Auto-schedule (rules-based)

Since 18 Jun 2026

Fill a draft week from availability, recurring patterns and your rules.

More about this

The Smart Scheduler builds a draft week for you from each person's availability, their usual recurring shifts, holidays and time off, and the rules you set, and can learn those patterns from your past schedules. It only ever makes a draft: you check it and publish. Built in June 2026 and in beta ever since: it's been tested over time, which is why it's in beta rather than early access.

More about this

Push notifications for new schedules, approvals and requests, from the installed app on iPhone and Android, with email as a backup.

  • Every business

Suggestion box

Since 18 Jun 2026

Personal time card and pay calculator

Since 19 Jun 2026

Staff track their own hours, breaks and tips.

More about this

A personal record for staff to check their own pay: hours per day, breaks, tips and bonuses, with privacy settings. It isn't the payroll record; the time clock is.

  • Every business
CoyoteshiftLive

Shift swaps

Since 19 Jun 2026

Staff trade shifts with an approve button, not a side text.

More about this

Two people agree to swap, a manager approves, the schedule updates and both get notified. No more trades that one person forgot.

Since 22 Jun 2026

Walk the aisle, scan, snap and count, even with no signal. Working today in our own stores.

More about this

Talk to Schedule

Say or type the week and get a draft to check before you publish.

More about this

Type or say how the week should go ("Maria opens Monday to Wednesday, Sam closes the weekend") and Coyoteshift fills in a draft schedule. Nothing is published until you've checked it. In development: the drafting works in our test copy, and we're finishing the privacy layer (staff names and personal details are replaced with placeholders before anything reaches our AI drafting service) and tuning how it reads unusual requests.

Invoices that check themselves

Snap an invoice; every line is read, checked and matched.

More about this

Take a photo or upload a distributor's invoice. Every line is read, added up against the invoice's own totals and matched to your catalog by barcode, item code or name, so you only look at the lines that don't add up. A new distributor's layout is set up once, in plain words. Being built now; you can try a preview in the CoyoteTrack demo. It grew out of an invoice-checking prototype from June 2026.

Bring your team over

Upload your staff list or another app's export and you're set up.

More about this

Moving from another app or a spreadsheet shouldn't take a week. Upload your staff list as a spreadsheet or another app's export; we recognise the common formats (7shifts, When I Work, Sling, Deputy, Homebase, Square) and ask which column is which for anything else. You review duplicates and fix mistakes before anything is saved, and you choose whether invites go out right away or later.

State labor overtime compliance

Your state's overtime rules and a minimum-wage check, built in.

More about this

Overtime rules differ by state, and most scheduling apps only count the federal 40-hour week. We plan to apply your state's rules per person: daily overtime where the state requires it, the exceptions the law allows, and a check that pay never works out under your state's minimum wage, with the payroll export saying exactly which rules ran. Nevada comes first: overtime after 8 hours in a day for staff earning under 1.5x the state minimum wage ($18/hour in 2026), as well as after 40 hours in a week, with an exception for written 4x10 agreements. Other states follow, starting with the ones our customers are in. Each state's rules are tested against real timesheets before anyone relies on them for payroll.

A plan shaped to your business

From a two-person time clock to a big team: a plan that fits.

More about this

Not every business fits a standard plan. We plan to tailor a plan to you: just a time clock for a two-person shop, more staff or locations for a bigger team, features on or off. Set up with you, no new code each time.

Clock in from anywhere

Clock in at markets, job sites and events, with a location stamp.

More about this

Some work doesn't happen at the store: a farmers' market stall, a job site, a catering venue. An owner can let a location accept clock-ins from anywhere; the punch is stamped with where it happened (if the phone allows) and an optional note, so the timesheet still tells the full story.

Every way you pay: flat-rate, per class, per piece, commission

Flat-rate, per class, per piece and commission, with minimum-wage checks.

More about this

Not everyone is paid by the hour. Auto techs are paid flat-rate per job, instructors per class, car washers and groomers per piece, stylists and service advisors on commission, often on top of a base wage. We plan one pay setup that handles all of these, starting with flat-rate for auto shops. Whatever the pay type, it checks that pay never works out below minimum wage for the hours actually worked (and shows the top-up owed), and it works out overtime the way the law requires for non-hourly pay.

AI-optimized schedules

Drafts that balance coverage, cost and fairness, and explain every shift.

More about this

The next step after rules-based auto-schedule: a draft that weighs coverage at your busiest times, labour cost, your state's overtime rules, availability and a fair share of good and bad shifts, and explains each assignment in plain words. Our ground rules: it only ever drafts, and a manager approves; it never uses lateness, sick days, predictions about people, productivity scores, location tracking or messages as inputs; rest between shifts and stated availability are hard limits it can't trade for a cheaper week; staff can see why they got a shift and ask for a review; and staff names and personal details are replaced with placeholders before anything reaches an AI service.

Auto shop pack

Tech scoreboard, live bay board and shop capacity.

More about this

For auto repair shops: a tech scoreboard (efficiency, productivity, comebacks per tech and for the shop), a live bay board for the shop TV showing who's on what and for how long, and shop capacity ("room for 6 more hours on Thursday") for whoever books the work. More about this

Building on the licences staff have been able to keep on their profile since June 2026: reminders before cards lapse (food handler, alcohol awareness, gaming and guard cards, ASE, EPA 609, cosmetology and pesticide applicator licences, CPR) and a warning before you schedule someone on a job their card doesn't cover.

For businesses that build their own tools: a documented API with keys per business, read access to staff, schedules, time and jobs, a few safe write actions, and webhooks when things happen (a shift is published, someone clocks in, time off is approved). Your data, connected to whatever you run.

Pesticide use records

Application records looked up by EPA number, kept for inspectors.

More about this

For pest control and landscaping: log each pesticide application on the job. The product is looked up by its EPA registration number (and flagged if it's no longer registered), the amount, area and target are entered, the weather is filled in, and the applicator is whoever is clocked in. Records are kept for the two years Nevada requires and can be exported per property for an inspector. The licensed applicator stays responsible for following the label and the law.

How new features reach you

We don’t switch a big change on for everyone at once. Each feature moves through these stages, so bugs are found by people who chose to test, before anyone depends on it day to day.

  1. 1PlannedWe know we want it and why. Not started.
  2. 2DesigningBeing planned in detail: what it does, the rules it follows, how it will be tested.
  3. 3BuildingBeing built and tested by us, in a private test copy.
  4. 4Early accessEarly access: a few businesses who opt in use it for real and help us find bugs before anyone depends on it.
  5. 5In betaWorking and tested over time, switched on per business by the owner. Still collecting feedback, so keep a backup way of doing it.
  6. 6LiveStandard part of the app, tested and relied on day to day.
Want early access?

Customers can opt in to try features at the Early access stage. You’ll get it switched on for your business, a quick way to report anything odd from inside the app, and a direct line to us while it settles. You can switch it off again any time, and nothing you’ve entered is lost. Early access comes with our Beta and Early Access Terms: features may have problems while we finish them, so check results before relying on them; we fix reported problems as fast as we reasonably can; and anonymized data from the feature helps us improve it, which we never sell or share. Email us to join.

Updated 2026-10-01. Features, timing and details may change, and every feature is tested before it becomes standard. Seasons are targets, not promises.
